So I've been hoping to get into raising meat rabbits. I started with a pair of mutt bunnies from my feed store. I tried to sex them and get myself a pair, but they turned out to both be boys. Bummer.
I kept the white one, Bugsy, because he was a little bigger and super friendly, Dipsy, the little black one, is less people friendly. He's not aggressive, just doesn't crave people attention like Bugsy does.

I also adopted a female rabbit, Red. She was attacked by a bobcat and rescued by her previous owners. The attack left her blind in her left eye.

She had a handful of litters before she came to me. I hoped that by having a seasoned momma rabbit, MY first time breeding rabbits would be a little smoother.
I gave her the nest box that she came with, but I also built them a "winter box" to get out of the winter wind.
After trying to get them to breed for the first few months, I came out one day to find a bunch of baby bunnies a few weeks old! Red had had a litter in the winter box without me ever knowing! I knew that was going to happen...
So I took the winter box apart, it was originally two large wooden drawers stacked and screwed together, added hinges and made myself a nice door to easily monitor future litters.
Later in the week the baby bunnies started exploring the hutch, drinking from the water bottle, and eating the pellets and alfalfa.
I sold all the bunnies as pets, but I'm "boarding" two of them while their new owner moves to their new house. It's fun to get to watch them grow!
