We only GOT Trina after I learned that geese can be house pets. I really wanted a dog, but that wasn't an option, so when the feed store had a dozen goslings in the breed I had been researching I brought one home (after googling how to "vent sex" a gosling so I wouldn't end up with a boy).
I ordered a baby diaper for her which turned out to be too big so I made her some smaller ones, but this post is strictly about grown goose diapers.
When the baby diapers started to bend her tail funny I shopped around for a grown goose diaper. I finally settled on one I found on Etsy. Sixty dollars later I realized her diaper was dud.
It leaked - gross - half the connections were held by extremely thin fold over elastic, and the adjustable straps were too easy for her to adjust on her own and wiggle out. So I took the diaper apart and used the parts to make my own design.
I started with a two piece butt pouch and adjustable sliders. The pouch still leaked at the seam even though the fabric was now waterproof, and with her exact measurements know the sliders were unnecessary.
I moved to a gathered bag type approach. This guarantees no leaks because there are no seams to worry about the and fabric has a nice waterproof coating made for home sewn baby diapers.
I even designed a new neck strap for my wide breasted Pom.
Now I sell these on Etsy and lately have had a flush of orders. I've even been referred a few local customers through my feed store! Next on the Goose Diaper list is adding personalization through embroidery. Having some trouble with my embroidery machine... but hopefully I can get that resolved soon and can hope to move toward more handmade related income!
